YOUTH INITIATIVE
Counter
Youth Initiative 2011

It is with heavy hearts that we announce that the Korean American United Methodist Youth Initiative will not be
held this year. However, there are definite plans in place to hold Youth Initiative again in 2012.  Please keep
Youth Initiative in your prayers and keep visiting our website for more updates.

Even though there won't be a Youth Initiative in 2011, we would like to encourage all the Korean United
Methodist Churches to attend YOUTH 2011, the national youth gathering for the United Methodist Church.  The
General Board of Discipleship (GBOD) organizes this event only every four years, and it is the largest single
gathering of UMC youth in existence.  This year, YOUTH 2011 will be held twice in July, —once at Purdue
University in West Lafayette, Ind., and then again at the Convention Center in Sacramento, Calif. The same
program will be presented at both locations—same keynote speakers, musicians and artists.

The great news is that the organizers of the event is willing to offer Korean United Methodist Churches a discount
of $100 off the church's registration deposit.  For more information, you can contact Blake Thornell, the Youth
Event Coordinator from GBOD (bthornell@gbod.org or 877-899-2780 ext. 1780).

You can receive more information or register at www.youth2011.org.  There is also an in-depth article on
YOUTH 2011 on the
United Methodist Church website.
